Walking Jasper National Park – Pyramid Lake
Jasper National Park, Alberta
Simply put, Jasper National Park is one of the most beautiful places in the world. It has one of the most stunning natural surrounds of anywhere in the world and this is coming from a man who has seen a lot of the world’s gems on each continent. It is not just Jasper’s physical surrounds that make it so loveable but it also has a feel about it that makes you feel instantly comfortable and makes it hard not to enjoy your vacation. Aside from all the cool activities to do, there are also some free and excellent things to do and see such as a walk around Pyramid Lake.
Depending on your energy levels, you can drive up to the Lake itself or walk up the hill. It is about a 50 minute walk if you take the winding road or half that if you take the short cut. The lake is most beautiful during summer but this doesn’t mean it isn’t stunning all through the year – just colder! The Coast Pyramid Hotel is right on the shore and during the warmer months of the year, you can rent out kayaks and head out for a paddle.
I have walked around the Lake every time I go to Jasper and I have never failed to see a ton of wildlife cruising around enjoying the delicious greenery on offer. Though you may not be able to bask in the emerald green of the lake during winter, you can pretend you are Jesus and walk out on the frozen lake. Whether you are coming from Banff or internationally, you shouldn’t let your visit to the Rockies pass without a trip to beautiful Jasper.
